City Considering Alternatives for Three Rural Intersections
A Public Meeting will be held at K. Albiani Middle School, 9140 Bradshaw Road, Elk Grove, on November 30, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. to present alternatives and obtain public input for improving traffic flow at three intersections in the rural area of Elk Grove.
The City is in the process of developing alternatives to improve traffic flow at these intersections:
- Sheldon Road / Bradshaw Road
- Sheldon Road / Waterman Road
- Bond Road / Bader Road
These intersection currently are all stop sign controlled and do not operate well at peak times in the morning and afternoon. The City is following the Rural Road Improvement Policy to develop alternatives to relieve peak hour congestion at these three intersections. Traffic counts were taking in February 2011. Concept alternatives have been developed for the Sheldon Road / Waterman Road and Sheldon Road / Bradshaw Road Intersections that include roundabouts as well widening at the intersection and adding signals (see below). The only conceptual alternative that is currently being considered for the Bond Road / Bader Road is to simply add signals with no widening needed.
Roundabout: Sheldon Road / Bradshaw Road
Signal: Sheldon Road / Bradshaw Road Signal
Roundabout: Sheldon Road / Waterman Road
Signal: Sheldon Road / Waterman Road
After hearing from the public, City Staff will present input from the meeting to City Council for direction to proceed with the Capital Improvement process.
